Enabling Javascript

Note: The instructions contained on this page are extracted from data freely available on a multiplicity of websites on the internet. These are made available to visitors for convenience. A number of sites will be offered that provide the information required.

Please note that the following instructions cater only for Windows PCs

Internet Explorer
Note:
Pre-IE 5.0 Browsers are NOT Supported for JavaScript IE 5.0

Internet Explorer 4.x

  • On the View menu, click Internet Options.
  • Select the Security tab.
  • Select Security Zone in the Zone drop down box.
  • Choose Medium for the security level.
  • Click OK.

Internet Explorer 5.0, 5.5 and 6.0
Note: MAC Computers running Internet Explorer versions less than 6.0
or Netscape versions less than 5.0 are NOT supported for Javascript

  • Select the Tools menu and at the bottom of the menu, select Internet Options
  • On the Security Tab press the Custom Level button
  • Scroll to the SCRIPTING section
  • Using the radio button, select Enable or Disable to turn Javascript support on or off as required

Netscape
Netscape 4.x
Note:
Pre-Netscape 4.5 Browsers are NOT Supported for JavaScript Netscape 4.5 and Netscape 4.5 will not support the enhanced Cross Reference JavaScript features

  • Select the Edit menu and select the Preferences option
  • Select Advanced (link on left Nav of Preferences) from the resulting dialogue
  • Select “Enable Javascript”

Netscape 6.0

  • Select the Edit menu and select the Preferences option
  • Select Advanced (link on left Nav of Preferences) from the resulting dialogue
  • Place a check mark in the Enable Java box
  • Place a check mark in the Enable JavaScript for Navigator box

Netscape 7.0

  • Select the Edit menu and select the Preferences option
  • From this dialogue, double click Advanced and select Scripts & Plugins
  • The following two boxes must have checkmarks for JavaScript to be supported:
    • Open a link in a new window
    • Raise or lower windows

    It is strongly recommended that the user simply place a checkmark in the Navigator box, located on the top section of the Scripts & Plugins page

    Note: Pre-Mozilla 1.0.1 Browsers are NOT Supported for JavaScript Mozilla 1.0.1

Mozilla
Mozilla 1.x

  • On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
  • Double-click Advanced and click Scripts & Windows (Mozilla 1.1/1.2)
    or Scripts & Plugins (Mozilla 1.3).
  • Select Enable JavaScript for Navigator.
  • Under Allow webpages to, select all options.
  • Click OK.

Opera
Opera 6.x, 7.x

  • On the File menu, click Preferences.
  • Click Privacy.
  • Under the Cookies heading, select Enable Cookies.
  • Choose Automatically accept all cookies in the drop down box.
  • Click OK.

AOL
AOL 5.0

  • Use "My AOL - Preferences - WWW - Security" command sequence
  • Click on the "Custom Level" button then scroll to the "Scripting" options and Enable Active Scripting.

AOL 6.0, 7.0

  • Use "Settings - Preferences - Internet Properties (WWW) - Security" sequence
  • Click on the "Custom Level" button then scroll to the "Scripting" options and Enable Active Scripting.
